Day 1: Jerusalem/Petra
Morning transfer from your hotel in Jerusalem to the Allenby/King Hussein Bridge. Our representative will meet you and assist with all passport and crossing formalities and your transfer across the Allenby Bridge is by Exclusive Isram services (no waiting for shuttle buses!). Meet your Jordanian guide and begin your drive through the dramatic desert scenery of the Kings Highway. First stop is the Byzantine Church of Mt. Nebo where Moses viewed the Promised Land. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea where, in March 2000, Pope Paul II planted an olive tree as a symbol for peace. Then proceed to Madaba, Byzantine Center of master mosaics; see the oldest surviving mosaic map of the Holyland. After lunch, visit the dramatic crusader castle of Kerak, a maze of stone vaulted halls and endless passageways. Arrive in Petra, built by the Nabateans over 2000 years ago. Dinner and overnight at the Movenpick Hotel.
Day 2: Petra/Amman
A most unforgettable day! Your guide will take you on a tour into the "hidden" city. UNESCO has described it as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage." Start the visit with a horse ride, or if you chose, an exhilarating walk from the main gate of Petra to the entrance of the old city. Continue by foot to visit the rose-red city of Petra-- City of the Edomites and later the Nabateans who carved a breathtaking empire out of the solid mountain rock hidden by a canyon. You will visit the Treasury made famous in the movie “Indiana Jones”; see the Theatre Tombs, Hall of Justice, Palaces and Temples. After lunch, depart Petra and drive north to Amman. Check in to your hotel for overnight.
Day 3: Tuesday: Amman/Jerash/Ajloun/Israel
