Our weekend tour presents an introduction to St.Petersburg, one of the worlds most beautiful cities famous for its picturesque settings and impressive architecture. Founded in 1703 as the window on the West by Peter the Great, St.Petersburg was the capital of the Russian Empire for over two centuries. Built on 42 islands linked by over 350 bridges, St.Petersburg is affectionately called the Venice of the North. The cultural capital of Russia has over 100 various museums, and during this short tour you will be able to see the highlights: the State Hermitage Museum and Peterhof, the former official summer residence of the Russian Tsars.

Day 1, Thursday/Friday
You arrive in St.Petersburg and are transferred to your hotel for the next three nights. Irrespective of their class, all the hotels that we offer are located in the historical centre of St.Petersburg.
Day 2, Friday/Saturday
You will spend this morning experiencing the cultural and historical highlights of St.Petersburg. You begin with an overview tour of the most important sights of the city centre: Palace Square, Nevsky Prospekt, Decembristss Square, the Bronze Horseman and others. During the tour you will visit Peter and Paul Fortress, the birth place of the city. The most striking building inside is Peter-and-Pauls Cathedral, the burial place of the Russian Tsars, from Peter the Great till Nicholas II. The afternoon is free to explore the city on your own.
Day 3, Saturday/Sunday
This morning you will have the tour of one of the worlds greatest museums the incomparable Hermitage. Put together throughout two centuries and a half, the Hermitage collections of works of art (over 3,000,000 items) present the development of the world culture and art from the Stone Age to the 20th century. The tour will include the reception quarters of the Winter Palace, the former official residence of the Russian Emperors, the highlights of the Old Masters Collection: Italian, Dutch, Flemish, French Art, and the highlights of the famous Impressionist and Post-Impressionist collections. After the tour you will be able to have lunch in the Hermitage caf and then explore the museum on your own.
Day 4, Sunday/Monday
This morning you will travel outside St. Petersburg to the town of Pushkin (Tsarskoe Selo) to visit Catherines Palace, the largest royal summer palace in the vicinity of St.Petersburg, famous for the splendour of its Baroque interiors and its unique Amber Room. Following this visit you will have time for lunch. In the afternoon you will visit Feodorovsky Cathedral, built on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Romanovs dynasty on the Russian throne and devoted to the family icon of the Virgin of the Russian Royal family. This is an active cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church reconstructed after World War II. From there you will be transferred to the airport.
