Mount Merbabu (Indonesian: Gunung Merbabu) is a dormant stratovolcano in Central Java province on the Indonesian island of Java. The name Merbabu could be loosely translated as 'Mountain of Ash' from the Javanese combined words; Meru means "mountain" and awu or abu means "ash". The active volcano Mount Merapi is directly adjacent on its south-east side, while the city of Salatiga is located on its northern foothills. A 1,500m high broad saddle lies between Merbabu and Merapi, the site of the village of Selo and highly fertile farming land. There are two peaks; Syarif (3,119 m) and Kenteng Songo (3,145 m). Three U-shaped radial valleys extend from the Kenteng Songo summit in northwesterly, northeast and southeast directions. Two known moderate eruptions occurred in 1560 and 1797. The 1797 event was rated 2: Explosive, on the Volcanic Explosively Index.

Duration: 2 Days & 1 night (Including trip by car from Yogyakarta - Selo - Yogyakarta).
Evening at 08.00 pm pick up service. Direct drive to trekker's base camp at Selo village located on the south saddle of Mt. Merbabu (2 hours drive). Upon arrival, preparation and start to experience trekking on Mt. Merbabu.(6 hours trek up and 4 hours trek down). By sunrise time reaching the Syarif Peak, the highest point on Mt. Merbabu (3.119 m ASL). From here you could see the spectacular surrounding views while relax and enjoying hot tea or coffee. Spare few more time to satisfy your self before heading down and return to the base camp at Selo village. Have simple breakfast at the base camp, pack up and drive back to Yogyakarta.
