Explore the second largest coral reef of the world, the amazing Mayan jungle, the unique wetlands and the wide biodiversity that these ecosystems have to offer. Learn about the Mayan culture. Understand the history of the Mayas by visiting the impressive archaeological sites such as Calakmul and Chichen Itza and experience the present Mayan culture and influence of the Mayan communities on todays Mexican culture, in the colonial cities of Campeche and Merida.

Day 1 Arrival Cancun
Pick up at the international airport of Cancun. Transfer to Puerto Morelos. Check in at the Ojo de Agua hotel (or similar).
Day 2 World Heritage Sian Ka'an
Lecture on Coral reefs. Snorkel in the national marine park of Puerto Morelos. Lecture on the Mayan jungle and afterwards, visit to the Botanical Garden to hike and enjoy learning about the plants and animals of the Mayan jungle.Transfer to the world heritage site of Sian Ka’an and check in at the hotel.
Optional: marine turtle observation (only May – September).
Day 3 World Heritage Site of Sian ka’an. Kayak
Lecture on the world heritage site of Sian ka’an. Kayak tour through the wetlands and Bicycling tour along the coastal dunes. Afterwards, enjoy learning about Sian ka’an in the Museum.
Later, lecture on crocodiles. Optional: crocodile adventure with NGO’s Amigos de Sian Ka’an.
Day 4 World Heritage Calakmul
Transfer to the world heritage site of Calakmul. On the way we stop at the archaeological site in Kohunlich.
Check in the hotel. Here, we will be having a lecture on bats. Afterwards, enjoy looking at more than 25 million bats close to Calakmul. At night, there will be a lecture on the world heritage site of Calakmul.
Day 5 Campeche World Heritage
Visit the amazing Calakmul site learning about the Mayan jungle and some unique wildlife that is living in this area. Transfer to the world heritage site of Campeche and sightseeing tour through the colonial city. Check in at the hotel and lecture on colonial cities.
Day 6 Merida World Heritage
Transfer to the world heritage site of Merida. Merida is a former colonial city. Here, we go on a city sightseeing tour to visit the cathedral, the government palace, murals, the market, and much more. Afterwards, check in del Gobernador hotel.
Day 7 World Heritage Rio Lagartos
Departure Chichen Itza. We are going to visit the amazing archaeological site-Chichen Itza. This is followed by a visit to the world heritage site -Río Lagartos. Enjoy a great day of bird watching (flamingos, pelicans, cormorans, egrets, herons, etc). At the end of the day we return to Cancun and you check in at your hotel.
Day 8 Departure
Transfer to the airport.
