Vacation Activities Highlight
Contrary to popular belief, Goa is not a city. It's a State - amongst the smallest in India. This beautiful Coastline State dotted with swaying palms can be divided in three tourist segments. North, South & Old Goa. Within each you could make sub divisions… beaches, forts, churches, temples, bazaars, bars, food shacks… makes sense to visit each one of them. A vacation in Goa means a lot for avid travelers. The gem of Indian tourism, Goa attracts tourists for its impressive coastline, long cultural heritage, natural wonders and the long list of things to do. The following is a list of top 10 Experience in Goa.

You must leave hotel as early as possible after breakfast (by 8:00AM max). Your first destination would be Dolphin Spotting.
Our cab will drop you at the boat jetty. Hire a boat and proceed to Coco Beach. Bargain well with the boat. They should charge you Rs ~300/- per person. En route you get to see Fort Aguada ,Goa central Jail, Aamir khan 's house,Jackie Shroff's house,"Hassena Maan Jayegi "movie shooting spot all from outside.

Next Desitanation was Fort Aguada :
Fort Aguada was a Portuguese fort and is now protected by the Archaeological Society of India. A nice view of the Arabian sea can be obtained from here. Fort Aguada was a Portuguese fort and is now protected by Archaeological society of India . The word "Aguada "means " watering place " in Portuguese. It served as a chamber for storing fresh water and also was a guard against the Dutch and the Maratha's. Now part of it a Jail and part of it open for visitors A nice view of the Arabian sea can be obtained from here.A scene from the famous Bollywood movie " Dil Chahta Hain " was shot here.

Next destination Sinquerim Beach :

Sinquerim beach lies close to Fort Aguada and is silent when compared to other North Goa beaches. Candolim beach is very near from this.It is a beautiful beach that has a spectacular stretch of sand.Part of the beach connects to the fort and is very scenic. This is not yet commercialized, no shacks or restaurant on the beach yet .Near this beach , there is the famous Taj Vivanta hotel. There were many water sports available there, but reserved those options for our next destination Baga Beach: As you entered the beach, you would realized why people say Baga is crazy. You could see lot of sea shacks all around, beaches fully crowded, shops fully crowded, bikers buzzing around... it is indeed most happening beach of Goa. After bargaining a bit you can finalized para sailing for Rs ~1000 for 2 people and jet ski Rs ~450 /person. Choice is all yours, and be sure you will end with My God !! what an experience. Far in the ocean, sailing over the sea...Didn't feel like coming down..feeling of flying like a bird in the sky is unimaginable!

Next spot Anjuna Beach:
This beach is nearby Chapora fort and Anjuna beach is popular with the younger generation. This beach is bit rocky. Do not waste much time. If time permits, visit Chapora fort & Vagator Beach. Sunset from the fort is very photogenic.

Day 03: Ancient Caves & Waterfalls

Today after breakfast you will proceed towards to Western Ghats where an idyllic Eden cradled luxuriously in the mountains, the DudhSagar waterfalls, which from a distance appear like milky streams, gradually climax into a gushing cascade as they come into full view of the onlookers.

On your way back, visit the Arvalem Caves. Just passing the town of Sanquelim, there is a detour road leading towards Arvalem Caves. These caves from the 6th century, are quite small, with no articulate sculptures or paintings. The origin of these caves is uncertain, some believing them to be of Buddhist origin, although the presence of lingas does not justify this statement claiming them to be of Brahmin origin. They are also claimed to be known as the Pandava caves, signifying the reign of Pandavas here during their 12 year exile as described in the Mahabharata. The shafts of the four carved lingas inside the cave resemble to those found at the famous Elephanta and Ellora caves. The Arvalem caves are very much patterned in the Buddhist cave style, rock cut into laterite stone, with the sanctuary at the northern end and the vihara at the southern end. The claim of the caves being of Buddhist origin is a justified statement, mainly due to the discovery of a huge Buddha statue nearby and a 4th century Buddha head found in the Mhamai Kamat house now installed in the Goa State Museum.

Evening at your leisure. Stroll the road from Calangute to Candolim, visit the stalls for window shopping. Have your dinner @ “The Republic of Noodles”.

Day 04: Anjuna Flea Market – By Boat or Scooty

This is a must on Wednesday. Boat leaves Sinquerim jetty at 9:30 am arriving in Anjuna at 10:30 am. The boat will leave Anjuna at 12:30pm. Anjuna is famous for its flea market. Bargain, Bargain and Bargain are the 3 things you should never forget as you enter the flea market.

Day 05: A trip to Old/South Goa – History comes Alive & Goan Spice plantations.

Leave hotel by 8.00AM and from North Goa you would drive straight to Panaji .The drive to Old Goa is lovely passing through some quaint little villages, farms, streets dotted with Portuguese architecture.. crossing narrow and winding road you won’t realize when our first spot came .

Reach Basillicca of Bom Jesus church :
It is one of the oldest churches in Goa, as well as in India, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition for its spectacular architecture, this church is also famous for housing the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier which lies in a silver casket, partially exposed. Its one of the must visit churches, when you are in Goa. Towards the exit , there was a light and sound show, where they tell you the story of St. Francis Xavier. No photography allowed.

From there you can also visited Se cathedral and archaeological museum which is adjacent to Basillicca of Bom Jesus church , just few foots away. Photography is not allowed inside the museum.

Next we drove straight to St.Augustine church , which is also close to Basillicca of Bom Jesus church. We didn't spend much time over there as there was nothing much to see except ruins. Clicked few snaps and headed towards our next spot.

Drive to Ponda - Time to visit few Goa temples-

Next stop was Mangeshi Temple :
Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Sri Mangueshi Temple located in Ponda is a major Hindu temple visited by many devotees . You should know that Great Singer "Lata Mangeskhar" is from this place. The temple is beautiful and well maintained.

Next stop from there is Mahalasa Narayani Temple. Its just a few steps away from mangeshi temple. This temple is very famous among locals. It could be crowded and there could be a long queue. So just took a snap from outside if you don’t want to see the idol .The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Mahalasa(Lakshmi).

Moving ahead to covered two more temples , Shantadurga Temple ,Mahalakshmi temple.

Proceeded towards our next spot, Sahakari Spice plantation:
The entry fee to the visit and tour is about 400 Rs per person. it includes welcome tea, a unlimited buffet lunch and a guided tour of about 45 minutes. Guided tour of a spice plantation explaining the various spice harvesting is interesting and informative. The area which they take around the visitors and tourists is about 5 acres. The rest of the spices are grown in the 25 acres and the visitors are not allowed in this area. The welcome is traditional with a garland, tika and few ladies performing a traditional dance. Food is ok. Your expectation after paying 400 rs could be high .You get a complimentary a small pkt of mixed spices and a few sips of Fenny(Avoid). Spending time over there is relaxing and refreshing. It was a much needed break to escape the humid weather.
Headed towards Panji for our next destination , Dona Paula bay /Beach :

Though its called dona paula beach , its not actually beach, a famous place with a great view of the sea! A very clean and good spot to go. The place is noted for location for many hindi movies like "Singham", "ek duje ke liye" etc. Enjoy sitting in the benches and enjoying the breeze there. Don't miss sipping various flavors of lime soda available there. Good place for photography and tshirt shopping. But don't forget to bargain. You may also try water sports here.

Its exactly time for you to move for our last spot of the day, Evening cruise at Mandovi River . It had a fee of rs 150 per person. Several boats sail from the jetty. They mostly have 3 decks, disco club at ground floor, snack bar at middle and the top is the happening place. There is a DJ who plays an awesome collection. The cruise also has a cultural show with traditional Goan and Portuguese dance performances. Also audiences were given an opportunity to get up and dance to some great beats. Enjoy the performance.
