Day 1: JOHANNESBURG – MOUNT SHEBA NATURE RESERVE
You will be met at the Johannesburg Airport by your guide/driver. We leave the city for the Mpumalanga Province via the coal mining towns of Witbank and Middelburg. We take the Belfast turnoff and continue towards Lydenburg. We check in at the Mount Sheba Hotel, nestled in a rain forest with lots of walking trails and beautiful mountain scenery. We are on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate.
Day 2: MOUNT SHEBA – BLYDEPOORT
After breakfast Pilgrims Rest will be our first stop. This is a living museum as the entire town has been declared a national monument, taking the visitor back to the days of the gold rush in the 1870’s. You may enjoy a beer in the old church, now a restored bar! Take a scenic mountain route to Blyde River Canyon, the world’s third largest canyon, God’s Window, Pinnacle Rock, and Bourke’s Luck Potholes for breathtaking scenery. We overnight at the Aventura Blydepoort resort with dinner and breakfast.
Day 3: BLYDEPOORT - SKUKUZA
We enter the Kruger National Park through the Phalbani gate for a full day’s game drive in the central section of the Park before we check in at the main camp, Skukuza. In the late afternoon you will be going on a sunset/evening game drive in an open vehicle with rangers of the Park. A very interesting drive with search lights for nocturnal animals. Dinner is included after your game drive.
Day 4: SKUKUZA – SWAZILAND – ST LUCIA
Exit the Park through the Malelane Gate and enter the small kingdom of Swaziland at Jeppe’s Reef border post. We travel through interesting mountainous countryside to leave Swaziland at the Golela border post.
Our destination is the St. Lucia Estuary, a World Heritage Site. Overnight at the St. Lucia Wetlands Guest House, bed and breakfast included.
Day 5: ST LUCIA – SHAKALAND, ESHOWE
After breakfast we take a boat cruise on the lake for a closer look at crocodiles, hippos and magnificent water birds.
We depart in a southerly direction through scenic and tranquil landscapes towards Eshowe. This will definitely be one of the highlights of your tour as you enter Shakaland, a village of the proud Zulu nation.
Enjoy a cultural tour through the village; get involved in spear throwing, homebrewed bear drinking, meet the medicine man and a lot more. In the evening, experience songs, tribal dancing, drum beating and the traditional food of the Zulus.
Overnight in one of the authentic Zulu huts, run by the Protea Hotel group.
Day 6: SHAKALAND – DURBAN – CAPE TOWN
The previous day’s experience will still linger on as you travel through green sugar cane fields towards Durban. Drop off at the King Shaka International Airport or your hotel.
