Thereafter, a drive through the Kingdom of Swaziland to the World Heritage Site of St. Lucia Wetlands, a boat trip on the lake, infested with hippos and crocodiles. Overnight in Durban and Oribi Gorge, a photographer’s dream. We visit the spectacular Garden Route, Cango Caves, a working ostrich farm and many, many more.

Day 1: JOHANNESBURG – GRASKOP
You will be picked up at Johannesburg International Airport or at your hotel by your AFRICAN WANDERER TOURS & SAFARIS driver/guide. Leave the city behind and head for the province of Mpumalanga, via the coal mining towns of the Highveld, all the way to the village of Lydenburg. We cross Robbers Pass to Pilgrim’s Rest. This is a living museum as the entire village has been declared a monument, taking the visitor back to the gold rush days of the 1870’s. Overnight will at Settlers Lodge, Graskop or similar. Bed and breakfast included.
Day 2: GRASKOP – BLYDEPOORT
We are now within the Panorama Route!
Next stops... God’s Window, Pinnacle Rock, Berlin Falls, Blyde River Canyon, the world’s third largest canyon and Bourke’s Luck Potholes for breathtaking scenery. Overnight will at the Aventura Blydepoort Resort www.foreverblydecanyon.co.za on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 3: BLYDEPOORT – KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
Enter the Kruger National Park through the Orpen Gate and explore this world famous National Park, home to the Big Five and several other predators and antelope. Enjoy a full day of game viewing!
Overnight will in the central section of the Park in bungalows. Room only.
Day 4: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
Another full day’s game drive to the southern section of the park Overnight will at the Berg-en-Dal Camp inside the Park, room only.
Day 5: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK – KWA ZULU NATAL
On this day you exit the Park through the Malelane Gate and enter the small kingdom of Swaziland at Jeppe’s Reef border post. Along the way we stop at the world famous Ngwenya Glass Works near Mbabane. Destination is the Golela border post, before entering Kwa Zulu Natal. We overnight at the World Heritage Site of the St. Lucia Wetlands.
Overnight will at the St. Lucia Wetlands Guest House or similar, bed and breakfast.
Day 6: ST. LUCIA – DURBAN
After breakfast we are taking a boat cruise on the lake to take a closer look at crocodiles, hippos and magnificent water birds.
We depart in a southerly direction through scenic and tranquil landscapes towards Durban. Short orientation tour of the city before we book in at the Tropicana hotel or similar, bed and breakfast.
Day 7: DURBAN – ORIBI GORGE
We depart for the South Coast of Kwa Zulu Natal. At Port Shepstone we go inland to the Oribi Gorge, a natural wonder. Check in at the Oribi Gorge Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 8: ORIBI GORGE – PORT ELIZABETH
Depart for Port Elizabeth via the rolling hills of the Transkei. Small villages and friendly people will be found along the way. We book in at the friendly Jabula Lodge, B&B.
Day 9: PORT ELIZABETH – KNYSNA
We start the Garden Route Tour today with a visit to the Storms River Bridge. Take the opportunity to stretch your legs at the Storms River Mouth for a walk to the swing bridge over the river. Spectacular beaches, forests and opportunities to take photos will arise. We also visit the 800 year old Big Tree in the Tsitsikamma Forest, stop at the Bloukrans Bridge –highest bungee jumping site in the world and end our day at the beautiful village, Knysna.Overnight at the Overmeer Guest House or similar, on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 10: KNYSNA – MOSSEL BAY
Beautiful scenery waits as you travel from Knysna across the Outiniqua Mountains to Oudshoorn.
First stop is the world famous Cango Caves. A specialist guide will show you the hidden wonders inside the caves. No crawling! From the caves, drive on to a working ostrich farm where you can try a ride on one of the large birds.
Cross the mountains again via Robinson pass to end up in Mossel Bay and stop at the age old Post Office Tree where sailors in the old days left post for homebound ships in a shoe.
Overnight will at the Eight Bells Mountain hotel. Bed and breakfast.
Day 11: MOSSEL BAY – CAPE TOWN
From Mossel Bay, travel to Swellendam to take a look at a masterpiece of Cape Dutch architecture, the Drosdy, built in 1747.
An off-the-beaten-track leads to Hermanus. During the whale season, July – November, be sure to see giant whales coming to this region to give birth.
Venture into the most dramatic and scenic route to Cape Town that starts at Rooi Els and ends at Gordon’s Bay. There will be a stop along the way so that you can capture the sights with your camera.
In Cape Town, check-in at the 4 star Cape Suites Hotel for the next 3 nights, bed and breakfast.
Day 12: CAPE TOWN
Experience a scenic drive through Sea Point, the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay to Hout Bay where a trip to Seal Island can be arranged.
The spectacular Chapman’s Peak drive is breathtaking and will lead to Cape Point – The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, undoubtedly one of the Cape’s biggest attractions. Situated at the most southern point of the Cape Peninsula, it is noted for its abundant floral diversity. The reserve has a spectacular coastline, with Cape Point boasting the highest sea cliffs in South Africa. A funicular takes visitors up to the highest vantage point – or you may decide to walk.
A visit to the penguin colony at Boulders is to follow, then proceed to Simons Town, the Constantia wine valley to Table Mountain. Table Mountain has become over the centuries one of South Africa’s best known landmarks. The famous flat top is approximately 3 km wide and its highest point 1 086m above sea level. The summit can be reached by a cable car with a revolving floor for panoramic views. Please note that the cable car ticket is not enclosed as it is weather permitting.
Overnight will at the Cape Suites Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 13: CAPE WINELANDS
Today you get to explore the Cape Winelands via the highway to Paarl – meaning ‘pearl’. The town was named after a massive granite rock that glows like a pearl in the sunlight.
A first stop at KWV wine emporium for a cellar tour with wine tasting. Paarl is renowned for its exquisite, world class red wines because of the granite content in the soil. On the way to Franschhoek, taste wine at Boschendal, visit the Franschhoek village and the Hugenot Memorial. This ‘French corner’ was so named after the French Hugenots who settled here in 1680.
Next stop is the historical town of Stellenbosch via the Helshoogte mountain pass. A tour of Stellenbosch, free time to walk and a visit to Uncle Samies shop awaits you. Return to your hotel.
Day 14: CAPE TOWN – HOME
Transfer to Cape Town International Airport for your flight home.
