Samburu Lake Nakuru Maasai Mara
Summary:
This budget trip starts with the less crowded Samburu national reserve in the semi arid northern part of Kenya famous with the rare species that are only be found in this area, mixed with Lake Nakuru a saline lake that attracts millions of flamingos and other birds species, wild animals are also present. This trips ends in Maasai Mara game reserve mostly Savannah plain with concentrations of big game and other plain animals also famed with the 8th wonder of the world of annual wildebeest migration.
Day 1
Met at the airport on arrival and be transferred to a 3 star hotel for overnight accommodation on bed and breakfast basis. (Kenya comfort hotel)
DAY 2
Tour Giraffe center to feed and kiss giraffes
Visit to Karen Blixen museum which famous with the movie out of Africa
Lunch at the famous carnivore game meat restaurant
Overnight night at the hotel in Nairobi on bed and breakfast basis (Kenya comfort hotel)
Day 3
Drive from Nairobi to Samburu national reserve (approximately 5 hours drive)
Coffee plantations and view of Mount Kenya
Lunch on the route
Late afternoon game drive
Dinner and night in tented campsite
Day 4
Samburu national reserve/Samburu community
Morning game drives
Picnic lunch in the reserve
Afternoon visit Samburu community (culture & traditions)

Day 5
Samburu, Lake Nakuru national park
Early morning drive to Lake Nakuru national park (5 to 6 hours drive)
Lunch in tented camp
Afternoon game drive in the park (flamingos, white rhino, Rothschild giraffe etc)
Dinner and night in tented camp
Day 6
Maasai Mara national reserve
Drive to Maasai Mara national reserve (4 hour’s drive)
Lunch in tented campsite
Afternoon game drives (the big five and plain game)
Dinner and night in tented campsite.
Day 7
Maasai Mara national reserve
Morning game drive in the reserve
Picnic lunch at Mara hippo point
Afternoon visit to Maasai community
Dinner and night in the tented campsite
Day 8
Maasai Mara Nairobi
Morning game drive in the park (4 to 5 hours drive)
Drive to Nairobi to arrive in the late afternoon
Drop off at your hotel or airport
Drive to Nairobi to arrive in the late afternoon ( 45 minute to the hotel)
Drop off at airport for flight to Arusha. Be met at the airport and transferred to Arusha for Dinner and overnight at Out Post Lodge.
Day 9
Arusha National Park (35 minutes to the park)
Bring a picnic lunch and head to the beautiful and nearby Arusha National Park. This park is often over-looked by visitors although it has stunning volcanic scenery, wonderful views of Mt Kilimanjaro (on clear days), a beautiful rainforest and plenty of wildlife.
2hrs walking around Mt Kilimanjaro
In the afternoon around 2.00. 2 hrs canoeing in Momella Lake.
Enjoy a peaceful and scenic canoeing safari following the shorelines of small Momella Lake. View buffaloes, bush buck, giraffes, hippos and many water birds (600 species exist in total) living in and close to the water. You can also view Mt Meru and Mt Kilimanjaro from the same spot.
Evening game viewing on your way to the park dinner and overnight at Out Post lodge
Day 10
Tarangire National Park (1.30 minutes from the hotel)
Leave at 7:00am straight to Tarangire National Park for the day game drive. This park is home to an abundance of elephants. You will see these enormous creatures travel in families and you surely will not miss the extraordinary care they take of their young. The elephants tend to travel in packs and in the same paths as they have taken year after year. Dinner & Overnight at Tarangire Safari Lodge
Day 11
Manyara National Park (1hr from the hotel)
After morning breakfast transfer to Manyara National Park for full game drive along with parked lunch boxes. You’ll enjoy the variety of animals species which are found in the park like elephant, zebras, leopards, antelopes and small species of wildebeest. Dinner and overnight (Lake Manyara View Lodge)
Day 12
Mto wa mbu (20 minutes)
Today you will head to Mto wa mbu. You will have culture tour along the village. This will include
- Walk through the farms in the green oasis at the foot of the rift valley
- A climb to Balaa Hill from where you can see the whole town.
- A view into the culture of the many different tribes living in the area
- A trip to Miwaleni Lake and waterfall
- Visit to the development projects that aim at improving agriculture and start income generating activates for the farmers
- Later in the evening head back to the hotel for dinner and overnight (Lake Manyara View Lodge).
Day 13 Lake Natron (3hrs )
After breakfast leave with picnic lunch box to Lake Natron via Engaruka. You will stop and visit the following:
- Oldest African irrigation system
- Maasai cattle market
- Maasai boma
- Walking safari in an area of outstanding beauty
- Look at the local community life
- Then heading to the sheer scale of the place that is out of this world. Lake Natron is also famed for its flamingo population. Although wildlife may be seen in this area, this location is not about game viewing; rather it is about experiencing the breathtaking space and immense views. Dinner and overnight at Moivaro Tented Lodge.
Day 14
Serengeti National Park (3-4 hrs few stops on your way)
Rise before dawn to experience a truly spectacular African sunrise over Lake Natron. Back for breakfast and then heading to Serengeti National Park. Spend the day driving, visiting the Wasso and Sonjo peoples, en-route to Serengeti National Park. Meet an ancient, traditional African way of life. This is a remote area; the drive is a long but a beautiful journey through dramatic harsh terrain.
Dinner and overnight at Lobo Wildlife Lodge.
Day 15
Serengeti National Park(game viewing )
Full day explore the endless plans. Dinner and overnight at Lobo Wildlife Lodge.
Day 16
Seronera (1hr)
Half day explore northern Serengeti, then heading to Seronera area. This is very popular area around that time of the year. The only permanent source of water is the Seronera River. Most of the animals are there. The more time you spend game viewing, the bigger your chance of spotting a hunt of any cats.
Dinner and overnight at Seronera Wildlife Lodge.
Day 17
Ngorongoro (2hrs vie Olduvai gorge )
Half day in Serengeti, then drive to Ngorongoro. Dinner and overnight at Rhino Lodge.
Day 18
Ngorongoro
Drive beyond Ngorongoro Crater for 45 minutes to Nainokanoka Village. We prepare donkeys and take one armed ranger, then start our trekking safari with lunch boxes from Nainokanoka Village via Olmoti Crater. The rim of Olmoti Crater is at 3,700 meters but the crater itself is relatively shallow. The grassy caldera is home to eland, bush-buck and sometimes buffalo along with the Maasai and their livestock. Water flows across the crater to the south side where it pours out through a cleft. It’s a small but spectacular waterfall known as Munge Stream. Dinner and overnight at Rhino Lodge.
Day 19
Ngorongoro (20m)
Have breakfast at the lodge, collect picnic lunch boxes and drive straight to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The crater is one of the largest intact caldera in the world with most spectacular sights in the world and in Africa as well. Descent 2000 feet’s (6000metres) to the floor of the crater for a half day crater tour. You will have great opportunity of viewing elephants, zebra, wildebeest, warthog, buffalo, ostrich, lion & other host resident animals which are found there. Dinner & overnight at Rhino Lodge.
Day 20
Lake Eyasi 2.30hrs
Breakfast in the morning, then depart for Lake Eyasi for Expedition. Experience the life of great hunters of Tanzania (Hadzabe). You’ll have a great opportunity of visiting the black smith and onions plantations if time allows. Dinner & overnight at Kisima Ngeda Tented Lodge.
Day 21 Arusha
Half-day at Lake Eyasi and then head to Arusha, shopping on your way. Dinner and overnight at Outpost Lodge.
Day 22
Zanzibar
Morning flight to Zanzibar. Meet and great at Zanzibar Airport and transfer to Tembo Hotel. Lunch and afternoon walking Guided Stone Town Tour. Dinner and overnight at Tembo Hotel
Day 23
Zanzibar
After breakfast transfer to full day boat excursion to visit Zanzibar’s beautiful sandbanks, watch dolphins, enjoy gourmet seafood lunch. Then back to Stone Town for Dinner and Overnight at Tembo Hotel.
Day 24
Zanzibar After breakfast visit Spice Farm and Joana Forest for the Nature Trail and the Mangrove Boardwalk. Among other animals and birds, see the Colo bus monkeys. Proceed to Beach Hotel for Lunch, Dinner and Overnight.
Day 25
Zanzibar
Breakfast, Lunch, rest of the day at beach leisure. Dinner and Overnight at the Beach Hotel.
Day 26
Return Home
Breakfast, transfer to Airport for flight to Dar es Salaam to connect with flight home.
