Singapore Science Centre Attracting over a million visitors a year, the Singapore Science Centre shows the visitor around a tour of human scientific achievement. Opened in 1977 by Dr Toh Chin Chye, who was the Minister-in-charge of the Science Centre Board. The Centre begins its tour with a laser light show in the main entrance hall. The Centre then examines human impact on the earth, from conquering the skies with flight to the environment and our impact on it, to the internal organs of the human body. Little India The main road of Little India is Serangoon Road, starting from Rochor Canal Road and continues northward to Serangoon itself. Little India can easily be reached through MRT (Little India, Farrer Park and Bugis Station). A must see is the Sri Veeramakaliamman temple, also located at Serangoon Road. This is Little Indias oldest temple and dates back to 1881! The area of Little India is most interesting to visit during Thaipussam or Deepavali, these are the two main Hindu festivals. Merlion Park The Merlion was first designed as an emblem for the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) in 1964 the lion head with a fish body resting on a crest of waves quickly became Singapore's icon to the rest of the world. Originally located at the Merlion Park by the Esplanade Bridge, the Merlion and the Cub became a popular tourist attraction for visitors.
