Fregate Island

Fregate Island Fregate Island is the granitic island furthest away from Mahe . It is accessible by plane, helicopter or boat. A five star resort was opened there in 1999. It has spectacular beaches and Anse Victorin in the northwest was voted by London's Sunday Times as the world's best beach. In earlier days Fregate is said to have been a haven for pirates....

Cousin Island

Cousin Island A few kilometres from Praslin is the small island of Cousin. Cousin is a bird sanctuary and can be visited by arrangement. It is about one and a half hours from Praslin by boat. The island is owned by the Royal Society for Nature Conservation (RSNC), administered by the International Council for Bird Preservation (ICBP). Cousin extends over 27 hectares and is entirely dedicated to nature. In fact, the island was made a nature reserve in 1968, when it was bought by the RSNC as a haven for endangered species of land and sea birds. Furthermore, the Seychelles Government declared it a Special Reserve in 1975, thus offering all the wildlife on the island legal protection. Amongst the species to see are the Seychell...

Denis Island

Denis Island Denis Island lies at the northern edge of the Seychelles, 60 miles north of Mahe Island. The island has a small village, an ancient lighthouse built in 1910, a redundant copra mill and the St Denis Chapel, all easily accessible by foot. The lagoons and coral reefs provide sheltered swimming, snorkelling and water sports all year round. The small professional dive centre is on hand should you wish to explore the underwater world, offering dives and tuition for beginners and advanced divers alike....

Digue Island

Digue Island An aura of charm and tranquillity surrounds La Digue. This island is accessible by boat and helicopter; about two and a half hours from Mahe and thirty minutes from Praslin. For years the way of life on La Digue has remained unchanged, transport is mainly by ox-cart or bicycle. On La Digue, time seems to stand still. Although La Digue can be visited on a day excursion, the island's rare calm and friendliness of its people are too precious to be passed by in haste. The ox-cart excursions include some of the more picturesque parts of the island where some fine traditional houses are situated. Wide deserted beaches are perfect for long walks, safe swimming, snorkelling and fishing. In the woods of La Digue can be fou...
