Plymouth

Plymouth Abandoned in 1997, Montserrats capital Plymouth has been compared to a modern day Pompeii. Buried deep in ash and volcanic debris including boulders up to the size of the houses that once stood there, the once thriving business and commercial centre of the island now resembles a dust-covered lunar landscape through which deep canyons have been gouged. These tours begin from the port in Little Bay and head south, first to Plymouth, then round the southern tip of Montserrat to th...

Jack Boy Hill

Jack Boy Hill In the north east of the island is a viewing facility at Jack Boy Hill, which also provides an excellent vantage point for volcano viewing. The facility includes a viewing platform, picnic areas, a viewing telescope, a mini trail and landscaped grounds....

The Montserrat National Trust

The Montserrat National Trust The Montserrat National Trust is a Non-Government, Non-Profit Organization dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the islands historical sites and natural environment and has been a leading agency in the development of the islands tourism products over the past 35 years. You can also look at photographs of our most senior citizens who built this island for us to enjoy, and hear their stories on videocassettes. The small library, which is filled with im...

The official capital Plymouth has been abandoned since 1997 due to the eruption of Soufriere Hills volcano. Afterwards, interim government buildings were built at Brades....
