Lake Toba

Lake Toba Relax and unwind from the hectic of travels at Lake Toba or Danau Toba, swim in the largest volcanic lake in the world on lazy afternoons and have a long massage after then followed by a good meal to end the day. With a quiet and serene beauty, it is famous for travelers as a place to just unwind and while the time away, especially after a hard core long backpacking or trekking. It was formed about 80,000 years ago by a colossal volcanic eruption: the caldera that was created eventually buckled under the pressure and collapsed in on itself, the high-sided basin that remained filling with water to form the lake. A second, smaller volcanic eruption, 50,000 years after the first, created an island the size of Singapore i...

Banten Banten is one of the young provinces in the Republic of Indonesia. Situated in west Jawa, can be reached about an hour from Jakarta as the capital city of Indonesia. And the harbour of Banten, Karanghantu [devil rock's harbour] that still used nowadays already existed since centuries ago. From this place, Sultan Banten's troopers took ...

Kalimantan Kalimantan is one of the least visited parts of Indonesia. The main reason for this is that it takes a long time and a fair amount of money and effort to explore. The good thing about the lack of tourists is that Kalimantan has remained unspoilt. With its great floating markets and stilt houses, Banjamarsin is the main tourist destination. It is also the ideal place to start exploring the rest of the island. Samarinda is a good starting point for trips up the Mahakam River....

Komodo Komodo is famous for its dragons. Giant lizards (probably not the right technical term) that can swallow an entire goat. The only village on the island is Komodo, it's a nice place but if you are here for dragon spotting head for Banu Nggulung (come again). A guide will take you to a dried up river bed where the dragons come to have a look at the tourists. The best season is the dry season when the dragons come to the watering holes.
