Serrekunda Serrekunda is the largest population mass in The Gambia. There is one main st which is littered with bars, restaurants and shops. Venture of the maindrag and you will find some interest in little markets, places where the locals shop, so good prices...avoid the meat market though, especially if its a hot day or you have a weak stomach....

Juffure The small town of Juffure situated at the northern bank of the Gambia river, 30 km southeast of Banjul. It's especially known for Alex Haley`s novel `Roots`. In this world-renowned novel he traced his family roots back to an African ancestor named Kunta Kinte. Kunta Kinte was one of 98 slaves brought to Annapolis, Maryland aboard the ship Lord Ligonier in 1767. Alex Haley's research led him to Juffure, Gambia, the village he claimed that his ancestor was taken from. In 1997 this was reason enough to organise a Roots festival. Abuko Nature Reserve

 
Abuko Nature Reserve The Abuko Nature Reserve is situated in the luscious surroundings of the Gambia, West Africa. It is one of Gambia's oldest and most prestigious reserves, home to 270 species of animals and hundreds of plants and trees. Field trips for students are available. You can also walk around the reserve to admire the trees, plants and animals and get a good work-out walking across 260 acres of land.
